Airport Open House – July 22, 2024
Dear Business and Community Organization Partners,Family Fun & Flight will again be hosting an Open House at the Medicine Hat Airport this summer!
We are planning a full-scale event with static displays and flying performances. Local civilian andcommercial aircraft will be featured, as well as various other aviation related clubs and organizations.
Family Fun & Flight provides up close and personal interactions with the aircraft & crew; informative displays; and an opportunity for a scenic flight around our beautiful city, provided by Super T Aviation. We offer free admission to all attendees, but there are many expenses such as insurance, transportation, fuel, water stations, public sanitation and more. Our budget this year is $50,000.00.
Family Fun & Flight hopes your business or organization will consider sponsoring this event. We have 4 levels of sponsorship so you can select the option that suits you best. Our committee understands that times are still challenging, and any support is greatly appreciated. We are entirely volunteer organized and run, so proceeds above cost recovery & event succession planning will be donated to local charities

Celebrating a Century of Service: The Royal Canadian Air Force
As the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) marks a century of service, it's an opportune moment to reflect on its storied past and the indomitable spirit of the men and women who have served within its ranks. The RCAF has been a pivotal element of Canadian defense and a symbol of tenacity and innovation.
The RCAF's inception was a response to the growing need for a formidable air force during some of the most tumultuous times in global history. Its valor was prominently displayed during World War II, particularly in the Battle of Britain, where the bravery of its pilots contributed to a pivotal victory for the Allied forces.
A chapter of the RCAF's history that deserves special mention is its role in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). The No. 34 Service Training School, located at the Medicine Hat Airport from April 8, 1941, to November 17, 1944, was part of this grand scheme. The BCATP was a monumental program that brought together the Commonwealth nations in a united effort to train aircrews for the war. The school's commitment to excellence earned it the distinguished "E" pennant, recognizing its effectiveness in training pilots who would distinguish themselves in service.
The centennial of the RCAF is a time for both retrospection and forward-thinking. It's a period to honor the legacy of those who served with valor, often paying the ultimate price. It's also a celebration of the advancements and progress made over the years and a call to inspire future generations to uphold the tradition of excellence.
To all the brave souls who have served in the RCAF, your contributions have not only shaped history but also continue to serve as a source of inspiration. As we commemorate 100 years of the RCAF, we recognize it as a beacon of strength and hope in the skies. Your service and sacrifice will forever be remembered. Thank you.

Drawing on their heritage as veteran RCAF pilots, Brent Handy, Todd Farrell and Greg Hume-Powell are the Northern Stars. Flying the classic Pitts Special in tight, precision formations and wringing it out with exciting freestyle maneuvers, the Northern Stars are getting great reviews!
The show starts off with a dramatic opposing pass followed by Brent's fast paced, surface-level aerobatics before being joined by Todd & Greg for precise loops, rolls and much more in
